The Foothill Symphonic Winds presents a concert of Sound Ideas. A diverse set of U.S. and International composers bring their musical themes to life with their music. The march Pas Redoublé by Camille Saint-Saëns provides a brisk opener. Australian Jodie Blackshaw conveys the feelings of a mother Humpback whale in Vulnerable Joy, as she travels to the birthing grounds and returning safely home with her calf. Juba Dance by Florence Price is a fresh voicing of percussive music performed by enslaved Africans who weren't permited to have instruments. Paris Sketches is Martin Ellerby's interpretation of four neighborhoods in the City of Light. Johannes Hanssen brings the beauty of a Norwegian fjord in Valdres. An annual holiday favorite, A Charlie Brown Christmas by Vince Guaraldi, brings a jazz beat to family events and carols. The castles, fields, rivers, and towns of Scotland are interpreted in Philip Sparke's Suite from 'Hymn of the Highlands'
